Parent Information

Dear Parents:

Thank you for entrusting us with the education of your child(ren). This is a huge responsibility that we do not take lightly. Our goal is to enable your son/daughter to achieve their very best. In order for us to be able to accomplish this, we need your help.

Below are suggestions that will empower you to encourage the very best academic performance from your child.

  • Attendance has a huge impact on a child’s achievement. While missed assignments can be made up, there is no replacement for the quality instruction that takes place in our classrooms daily. Please assist us in encouraging your son/daughter to be at school, on time, whenever possible. This investment will be well worth the effort.  Schedule doctor's appointments on Mondays.
  • While the school dismisses at 3:50, learning is never complete. Even if there are no given assignments, encourage your child to read, write, and study at home as often as possible.
  • Talk to your child about their school day. Asking specific questions can sometimes elicit more information. For example, asking, “What was the best thing about school today?” or “How did your history presentation go?” will help encourage discussion.
  • Periodically review your child’s grades with them and discuss strategies for maintaining or improving their grades.
  • Contact your child’s teachers if you have concerns.  We all want your child to be successful and are happy to speak with you either in person or over the phone to discuss strategies that can help your child improve.
  • Teacher’s professional credentials are available for viewing at teachlouisiana.org.

Also, Slaughter Community Charter School encourages parental participation by offering opportunities for parents to become involved.
